New name now, Michoacán. The best and only Authentic Mexican Restaurant in south west Georgia. No other like this one. Love their mini tacos, seafood and super friendly staff. Have been in The Mountrie area and haven't found one that compares to Michoacán Mexican restaurant.
Place must be permanently closed. Paper taped across windows and doors. Handwritten sign in door that was written in Spanish and very faded handwriting.
Used to like this place but they now have new ownership or something. All I know is that they seem strangely 'hostile' towards non-Hispanic customers. Twice now, I have been leaving the restaurant and have witnessed the staff turn away white and patrons a few minutes before closing but then wave in Hispanic customers and seat them. Doesn't matter how the food tastes or the service. I cannot tolerate this kind of discrimination from ANY business. Will NOT be going back.
The food is authentic, fresh, and some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten, no joke! The name is no longer El Tarasco but rather Michoacan. The menu has expanded and they have lots of great dishes, even a few goat dishes, my favorite. The guacamole is fresh and homemade. The service is friendly. I have been many times, and have no complaints whatsoever.
